The Future of Yesterday...Today!

The Three Dimensional Learning

The Next Generation Science Standards

Within the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS*), there are three distinct and equally important dimensions to learning science. These dimensions are combined to form each standard—or performance expectation—and each dimension works with the other two to help students build a cohesive understanding of science over time.

Principles of the Framework

Children are Born Investigators

Children have the capacity to learn science as they have a sophisticated way of thinking about the world around them. They may not have deep knowledge or extensive experience, they do however engage in a wide range of subtle and complex reasoning about the world. This is where STEM education has a powerful impact on them in all backgrounds and socioeconomic levels.

Science education is the teaching and learning of science to non-scientists, such as school children, college students, or adults within the general public. The field of science education includes work in science content, science process (the scientific method), some social science, and some teaching pedagogy.
